Bec

Pre-Licensed Counselor

Hi, my name is Bec Miller and I am committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for my clients to embark on their journey towards healing and self-discovery.

As a dedicated Pre-Licensed Counselor, I am committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for my clients to embark on their journey towards healing and self-discovery. With a foundation in the psychodynamic model, I believe in the transformative power of introspection and self-awareness in navigating life’s challenges. Together, we delve into the underlying dynamics of their lives, uncovering patterns, healing trauma, and gaining insights that lead to meaningful growth and lasting change.

My approach is also rooted in feminist and multicultural counseling principles, recognizing the intersecting influences of gender, culture, and social context on mental health. I strive to create an inclusive and affirming space where individuals of all identities feel seen, valued, and respected. I am deeply committed to advocating for social justice and challenging systemic inequalities within and outside the therapy room.

In addition to my commitment to feminist and multicultural counseling, I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals and teenagers. I understand the unique challenges and experiences these populations face and am dedicated to providing affirming and culturally competent care. Whether it’s exploring identity, navigating coming out, or addressing discrimination and stigma, I am here to support you every step of the way.

I have experience and great interest in working with populations managing chronic pain conditions including chronic pelvic pain and TMJ, and the associated trauma both prior to and following diagnosis. I strive to treat my clients with unconditional positive regard and empathy for their journeys, and understand healing is not often linear.

One of the tools I often use in therapy is humor. I believe in the healing power of laughter and incorporate it in a therapeutic way to facilitate connection and perspective-taking. Humor can serve as a powerful tool for exploring difficult topics, building resilience, and fostering a sense of lightness amidst life’s challenges.

Collaboration is at the heart of how I conduct therapy. I work alongside my clients, valuing their unique perspectives and experiences, to co-create a therapy journey that aligns with their individual needs and goals.

I’ve been on a long mental-health journey myself and I find it such an honor to help others through their own unique paths toward wellness.

I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and have completed a master’s of arts in clinical mental health counseling, both from Kutztown University.

In my free time I enjoy playing video games (an embarrassing amount of Fortnite over here), birdwatching, photography, and writing. I also really enjoy discussing queer themes/topics and it’s an easy way to get me talking for hours on end.

I welcome you to take the first step towards holistic well-being and growth with me!

Together, we can embark on a journey towards a more fulfilling and authentic life.
