Nina
Counseling Intern

Hi! My name is Nina, and I create a warm, supportive space where clients feel seen, safe, and understood as they navigate life’s challenges.
I’m currently completing my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Lehigh University, and I offer counseling appointments both in person and virtually.
Before transitioning into counseling, I spent nearly a decade working as a genetic counselor in cancer, prenatal, and pediatric settings. In that role, I supported individuals and families through complex and emotionally heavy health decisions, including cancer risk and diagnoses, high-risk pregnancies, and serious pediatric medical conditions. Much of my genetics career involved sitting with people in moments of grief, fear, guilt, and uncertainty—helping them make sense of overwhelming information.
Over time, I realized I was deeply drawn to supporting people on an emotional and relational level. Through continued learning, reflection, and my own therapy journey, I moved toward a career more aligned with my strengths and interest in mental health.
While I’m not currently involved in coordinating or interpreting genetic testing, I offer mental health support for individuals coping with the emotional impact of genetic diagnoses or risks, family history concerns, fertility journeys, and decision-making.

I work with adolescents (16+) and adults across a wide range of mental health needs and life experiences. In my therapy approach, I focus on building a supportive, collaborative relationship and tailoring sessions to each individual. I draw from evidence-based tools, including CBT, in a flexible and responsive way. I aim to help clients better understand how their experiences affect them while also identifying strengths, resilience, and practical ways forward. Above all, I strive to offer a space where clients feel safe, less alone, and supported as they are.
I offer an inclusive, affirming space and welcome clients of all identities; I am an LGBTQ+ ally.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy dancing in my kitchen, hosting friends and family (I make a pretty great balloon arch), learning to bird-watch and knit, finding hikes with beautiful views, and discovering fun ways to move my body. I value connection, creativity, and bringing warmth into everyday life.
